You’ll become a visionary fashion designer, creating a one-look-collection by building a scarecrow. The scarecrow is the starting structure for character design and world-building, with the development of the concept, clothing, and identity. In 4 weeks you work individually and as a group to create a shared world. Individual characters come together in a final presentation as a fashion show or exhibition, where each look becomes part of one collective presentation. Yorick Westerkamp guides the process through storytelling, hands-on designing, material selections, and direct feedback on construction and styling. No prior sewing experience needed.
Yorick Westerkamp, also known as Papa Yorick, is the founder of the eponymous label (PAPA)Yorick and a fashion and costume designer based in Amsterdam. His practice builds character driven garments and constructed clothing systems that shift how existing clothing is read and used. He works with deconstruction, draping, and improvised fabrication methods. He graduated from Gerrit Rietveld Academie in Amsterdam and has worked in design environments in Amsterdam and New York, including Vaquera and The Patchwork Family. His work continues to grow through ongoing collaborations in fashion and film.
