In this workshop, we will design a series of graphic posters. Through actively experimenting and mixing multiple methods like hand drawing, block printing, and digital editing (participants can use programs they are familiar with; this does not have to be limited to paid programs such as Adobe), we will learn about the different characteristics of each medium and ways to complement each other. Makers of all skill backgrounds are welcome.
Jung Yeon Kim (1994) is a printmaker and visual artist based in Amsterdam since 2017. She combines different printing techniques like etching, relief printing, and silkscreen printing in her graphic works, playing with the visual language of each medium. The underlying subjects of her work mainly derive from the research about ancient East Asian knowledge systems, encompassing traditional phenology, geometry, and linguistic symbols, which are adopted as a tool to reflect upon the current values and systems of society. Jung Yeon visually interpret her research by mixing diverse textures of scratches, hand drawings, and photographic images alongside the poems.
